Coins Minted by the United States Mint both Old and New

Collecting Coins with Value

United States Coins offer a great reflection of US and world history, which is partly what makes collecting them enjoyable to so many people. Classic coins that are commonly circulated are fun to seek out and collect. In US Cent Coins alone, you can choose to collect Flying Eagles, Indian Heads, Wheat Pennies, Lincoln Memorial cents, the special Lincoln Bicentennial series, or more recently released Lincoln Shield Cents. You can continue your adventure with Liberty Head ("V"), Buffalo (also referred to as Indian Head) and various designs of Jefferson Nickels. Next you can choose to move on to Barber (also known as Liberty Head), Mercury (or Winged Liberty) and Roosevelt Dimes. Or if you’re like some collectors, you may wish to skip the lower denomination coins and start off by collecting Quarters, available as Barber (also called Liberty Head), Washington, the State Quarter Series (which is popular with kids and adults alike), the U.S. Territories Series, and America The Beautiful Quarters. Although tougher to come by in actual circulation, there are numerous unique designs to collect in Half Dollars as well, including Barber, Walking Liberty, Franklin, Kennedy, and numerous Commemorative Half Dollars. Popular with more seasoned collectors, Morgan, Peace, Eisenhower (often shortened to Ike), Susan B. Anthony, Sacagawea (featuring the newest Native American series), and Presidential Dollars are exciting additions to any coin collection. Another easy way to collect coins is to buy Mint or Proof Sets, which are available for most years from the 1950-1960s on (although the US Mint didn’t make them available in a few years). You may also wish to collect Paper Currency to round out your numismatic collection.
