1991 San Francisco(S) Mount Rushmore Half Dollar Proof (PF) Clad Commemorative Coin in Original Government Packaging (OGP)

The 50th anniversary of the Mount Rushmore National Memorial was commemorated on three cions. Surcharges from the sale of these pieces were divided between the Treasury Department and the Mount Rushmore National Memorial Society of Black Hills, South Dakota, with money going to finance restoration work on the national landmark.

The obverse of the copper-nickel half dollar was designed by New Jersey artist Marcel Jovine and features a view of the famous carving by Gutzon Borglum. The reverse, designed by Mint sculptor-engraver James Ferrell, shows and American bison with the words GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY.
