The Flying Eagle cent was on made from 1856 to 1858 and was the passing of the large cent and the half cent to a 'small cent'. The Flying Eagle cent pattern, was made to show Congress how the new cent would look. The Flying Eagle was the first small-sized cent coin minted in the US, replacing the earlier large cent. The 1856 date is believed to only have between 2,000 and 3,000 pieces struck in all then the 1857 and 1858 versions had millions minted.

Pair of Flying Eagle Cent Coins 1857 and 1858

The obverse of the flying eagle coin depicts an eagle in flight, a unique subject for the obverse of American coins. The reverse of the coin has the words ONE CENT surrounded by a wreath, similar to the reverse on the later Indian Head cent. Designer James B. Longacre. All coins were minted at the Philadelphia Mint but there are no mint-marks on the coins.

With these in average circulated condition, you can expect the Flying Eagle Cent coins to appear worn and not in perfect condition.
