1924 Huguenot-Walloon Commemorative Tercentenary Half Dollar Very Fine to Extremely Fine (VF/XF) Condition Coin

The settling of the Huguenots and Walloons in the New World was the occasion commemorated by this coin issue. New Netherland, now New York, was founded in 1624 by a group of Dutch colonists. The persons represented on the obverse were not directly concerned with the occasion, however. They are Admiral Coligny and William the Silent. The reverse shows the vessel Nieuw Nederland. George T. Morgan prepared the models for this coin.

Struck in 90% silver composition with a net weight of 12.5g of fine silver, the souvenir issue 1924 Commemorative Half Dollar Huguenot Tercentenary coins have a distribution of 142,080 units and remain a collectable coin to this day.

Offered here in VF to XF condition, Very Fine (VF) is defined as having medium to light wear overall, but all major details are still visible. Some elements might show a bit more wear than others, and original mint luster is usually gone. Where as Extremely Fine (XF) can be described a higher grade that means the coin has only light wear, which is most apparent on the high points of the design. There may be some original mint luster visible on the coin's surface.
