PRODUCT DETAILS/DESCRIPTION
1858 Flying Eagle Cent Extra Fine (XF) 40 NGC Certified
The 1856 Flying Eagle cent, a pattern, was made to show Congress how the new cent would look. The Flying Eagle was the first small-sized cent coin minted in the US, replacing the earlier large cent.
The obverse of the Flying Eagle cent coin depicts an eagle in flight, a unique subject for the obverse of American coins. The reverse of the coin has the words ONE CENT surrounded by a wreath, similar to the reverse on the later Indian Head cent. The designer was James B. Longacre. All of these coins were minted at the Philadelphia Mint.
1858 Flying Eagle Cent XF40
Certified by NGC to be Extra Fine (XF or EF) 40, these coins can show slight wear but all details are sharp.
