The Comic Art Coin & Medal Program from the United States Mint continues today with the second release in the series. Beginning at 12pm EST, you can add Batman™ to your collection in the form of a 2.5oz silver medal, 1oz silver medal, and $50 gold coin. All will be available on a PRESALE.
Bearing the same obverse and reverse, the design displays this iconic anti-hero and his never-ending fight to combat crime in Gotham City. The obverse depicts Batman™ leaping into action to protect the people of his city. As a decorative eagle carved in stone next to him overlooking Gotham, the words LIBERTY and 2025 are inscribed along the top and bottom of the design for the 2.5oz silver medal and gold coin while the 1oz silver medal just has LIBERTY. IN GOD WE TRUST is also inscribed on the $50 gold coin.
The reverse features the famous Bat-Signal shining brightly in the sky as Batman looks ready to step into action. BATMAN and JUSTICE AND COURAGE are inscribed on both the 2.5oz and 1oz silver medals. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ½ OZ .9999 FINE GOLD, and $50 are inscribed on the gold coin.
Limited to 25,000 in mintage and product, the 2.5oz silver medal from Philadelphia will retail for $275.00. The 1oz silver medal, also struck at Philadelphia, will retail for $135.00 with no product or mintage limit set. The $50 Proof Gold Coin from West Point has a product and mintage limit of 10,000. Each product will be limited to one per household initially.
Again, all three products are available on presale with shipping expected to start at the beginning of Fall. Each item will be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
