Second To Last American Women's Quarter Available Today From U.S. Mint

The second to last American Women's quarter dollar will be released today from the United States Mint. Beginning at 12pm EST, you can purchase bags and rolls featuring Stacey Park Milbern from Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco (3-roll set ONLY).

Born with congenital muscular dystrophy, Stacey Park Milbern was introduced to disability rights history as a young adult where she would find her sense of community and passion for activism. This would lead to her career as a visionary leader and powerful activist for those with disabilities. Milbern was appointed to the statewide Independent Living Council and Commission for the Blind by the Governor of North Carolina where she was a crucial part of the writing and passage of the North Carolina law requiring that disability curriculum be taught in schools. She co-founded the disability framework that focused on serving marginalized communities and directly supported people with disabilities through the transition from institutional care to living independently. Milbern’s speeches and online writings would inspire inclusiveness, interdependence, and empowerment and in 2014, President Obama would appoint her to the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities.

The reverse of the quarter depicts Milbern speaking to an audience with one hand near her trach and the other facing up. This gesture is said to signify “a genuine exchange of ideas and the building of allyship.” UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, QUARTER DOLLAR, DISABILITY JUSTICE, and STACEY PARK MILBERN are inscribed on the design as well.

Laura Gardin Fraser’s portrait of George Washington continues to grace the common obverse throughout the program. The design was originally entered into a contest for the 1932 quarter which honored the First President’s birth. LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST, and 2025 are seen inscribed along with the corresponding mintmarks.

Retailing for $47.25, the 100-coin bags are available from Philadelphia and Denver. The 2-roll sets retail for $42.00 while the 3-roll sets (including San Francisco) are $63.00.

The final quarter for 2025, and the last one of the entire American Women Quarters program, is scheduled for release in the Fall and will honor Althea Gibson.
