Leonidas I Legendary Warriors Series 1 Troy Ounce (oz) .999 Fine Silver Medallion (Round) - Single

As the tenth release in the exclusive Warrior Series this silver round features Leonidas I. The first in the series is Eric Bloodaxe, the second being Julius Caesar, the third being Achilles, the fourth being Alexander The Great, the fifth being Genghis Khan, the sixth being Geronimo the seventh being Joan of Arc, the eighth being Spartacus, and the ninth being Hannibal. This round features the great warrior, Leonidas I, King of the ancient Greek city-state of Sparta.

At the Second Greco-Persian War, Leonidas led the allied Greek forces in a last stand at the Battle of Thermopylae (480 BC), attempting to defend the pass from the invading Persian army, and was killed early during the third and last day of the battle. Leonidas entered myth as a hero and the leader of the 300 Spartans who died in battle at Thermopylae (think about the Movie: 300). While the Greeks lost this battle, they were able to expel the Persian invaders in the following year.

10th in Series: Leonidas I 1oz .999 Silver

The obverse features Leonidas I in full battle gear with a cape and the recognizable Spartan hoplites helmet (known as the Attic or Corinthian helmet characterized by a plume coming out of the the top) wielding a sword and shield. King Leonidas stands in front of four other Spartans, ready for battle.  At the top of the medallion his name is inscribed "LEONIDAS I". The reverse then features the common design that will be used throughout the series which depicts an array of historic weaponry that represents each of the warriors to come in this Legendary Warriors Series. The words "LEGENDARY WARRIORS" and "1. OZ 999 FINE SILVER" are curved around the top and bottom of the design.

Singles will arrive in individual plastic flips with increments of 20 pieces arriving in a protective plastic tube.
