1874 Liberty Seated Half Dollar Arrows Good to Very Good Condition

The Liberty Seated Half Dollar was minted from 1839 to 1891 and underwent various design modifications during its production run. The 1874 issue includes arrows on either side of the date, a feature introduced in 1853 to indicate a weight change in response to fluctuations in the price of silver. The obverse of the coin features the Liberty Seated design by Christian Gobrecht, portraying Liberty seated on a rock, holding a shield inscribed with the word "LIBERTY." She is surrounded by stars, and the date is below. The reverse depicts a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings, clutching arrows and an olive branch, with the inscription "HALF DOL." and "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA."

In Good (G) condition, the 1874 Liberty Seated Half Dollar shows significant wear, with major details heavily worn but still discernible. Liberty's figure may be partly outlined, and some stars may be faint or worn away. The date is generally visible, albeit possibly partially worn. On the reverse, the eagle's feathers and features may show wear, but the overall design should be recognizable. In Very Good (VG) condition, the coin exhibits moderate wear, with more details visible compared to a Good condition coin. Liberty's figure and the date are clearer, with more defined features and less wear. The stars surrounding Liberty and the eagle's feathers on the reverse show more distinct outlines, although some wear may still be present.
