1867 Shield Nickel No Rays Good to Very Good Condition

The 1867 Shield Nickel without rays in G/VG (Good to Very Good) condition is a collectible coin with historical significance. The obverse (front) of the coin features a shield with a large "V" representing the denomination "5 cents." The shield is surrounded by stars representing the states of the Union at the time. The reverse (back) initially included rays between the stars but was later modified to remove them due to striking difficulties. This variety is known as the "No Rays" type.

In G/VG condition, the coin will show moderate wear with the major design elements still visible but worn down. Liberty's shield may show wear, and some of the finer details may be worn away. On the reverse, the stars and other design elements will still be visible, though they may show signs of wear and blending.
