This Set includes 1 Proof, 1 Proof Colorized, and 1 BU Gilded.

Each animal of the lunar zodiac is said to bestow its dominant characteristics on those born during its rule. The fifth of 12 animals in the calendar, the dragon bestows bravery, ambition, intelligence, and good fortune on those born under its influence in 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012 and 2024. Minted by the Australian Perth Mint in 1 Troy Ounce .9999 Fine Silver.

The coin’s reverse portrays a Chinese mythical dragon with stylized waves and fog - allusions to its control of the elements. Included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘dragon’, the inscription ‘DRAGON 2024’, and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary. The obverse bears the Jody Clark Memorial Obverse of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II supplemented with the dates of her reign ‘1952-2022’, as well as the coin’s weight, purity, and monetary denomination of "1oz 9999 Ag 1 DOLLAR".

Silver Dragon BU Perth Coins

Portraying a Chinese dragon and a flaming pearl, each coin features a different combination of surface treatments. A delicately frosted design on the proof release appears on an immaculately polished table; the coloured release depicts the dragon in vivid hues; the gilded coin highlights the dragon in 24-carat gold. Included in the design is the Chinese character for ‘dragon’, the inscription ‘DRAGON 2024’, and a ‘P125’ mintmark signifying The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.

Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the set is presented in a classic display case with a geometric design on its transparent lid. The case comes in an illustrated shipper featuring a dragon. When arrayed with other three-coin set shippers from the series, the resulting diorama depicts the legend of The Great Race, in which 12 animals successfully compete for a position in the lunar zodiac.
