Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.99% pure silver in bullion quality, the coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 with an unlimited mintage. The design stays the same from year to year other than the year-date; the silver coin’s reverse portrays a bounding kangaroo surrounded by stylized rays of sunlight. Inscriptions on a wavy-lined border include "AUSTRALIAN KANGAROO" and the coin’s weight, purity, and year-date of "2024 1oz 9999 SILVER". The "P" mint-mark is special this year, featuring a "P125" marking the 125th anniversary of the Perth Mint. Then the obverse of each coin depicts the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III along with "CHARLES III", "AUSTRALIA" and the legal tender denomination of "1 DOLLAR".

AUTHENTICATION FEATURE These coins include an authentication feature on the reverse. In the form of a micro-laser engraved letter ‘A’ which is within the first A of AUSTRALIA, it is only detectable under a magnifying glass. The authentication feature is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited providing peace of mind to collectors.

Silver Kangaroo Coins

The year 2024 marks the 9th year of issue for the Silver Kangaroo. The main significance of this silver bullion coin is that it was the first ever silver bullion issue from Perth to be struck in .9999 fine silver rather than .999 fine silver. A recognizable symbol of Australia, the kangaroo features in the Australian national emblem alongside the emu.
