U.S. Mint and Royal Mint Announce Joint Design for the 2024 Liberty & Britannia Program

Earlier this month, the United States Mint, along with The Royal Mint, announced their next joint venture together in a design for the 2024 Liberty & Britannia Program. Created by both mints’ Chief Engravers, this will mark the second time the U.S. Mint and Royal Mint have collaborated.

The new design features a collective effort between United States Mint Chief Engraver, Joseph Menna, and The Royal Mint Chief Engraver, Gordon Summers. It features Liberty and Britannia, two very important and historical figures featured on many coins and medals over the years. In this new depiction, they come together on one design as American Liberty represents the bedrock value that Americans look to as Britannia symbolizes maritime power and national pride and unity.

The design features Liberty and Britannia in profile portraits with additional elements, like the image of faces on a playing card. Liberty carries a torch with stars circling her as Britannia wields a trident and wears a Corinthian helmet.

Products featuring the design will be available sometime this year.
