$2 Uncut Sheet of 4 $2 Notes/Bills Bi-fold Album w/Information on Note Designs
The design on the reverse of the 2 note depicts the "Signing of the Declaration of Independence" base on John Trumball's painting. Aesthetic considerations required that six figures appearing on the extreme left and right border of the original artwork be dropped for the rendition in the $2 note. Trumball, who painted this work during the post-Revolutionary War period, was later commissioned to reproduce the painting in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C. The original now hangs in the Trumball Gallery at Yale University.
