2021 United States Mint Set – Transitional Quarter Designs
The 2021 United States Mint Set presents standard uncirculated business-strike coins from both the Philadelphia and Denver Mints, housed in the updated multi-panel Original Government Packaging (OGP). This year represents a historic transition for U.S. coinage: it includes the final quarter of the long-running America the Beautiful Quarters Program—Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site (AL)—as well as the debut of the new Washington Crossing the Delaware quarter design, issued for the remainder of 2021. The official Red Book reports a very low mintage of 211,787 sets, making the 2021 Mint Set one of the scarcest in the modern era.
Alongside the two quarter designs, this set includes uncirculated examples of the 2021 Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Kennedy Half Dollar, and the 2021 Native American Dollar featuring the “Native American Code Talkers – WWII Recognition” reverse. All coins are sealed in Mint-issued cellophane inside the folder-style packaging, preserving sharp uncirculated details, bright mint luster, and clear mintmarks for both P and D coins.
The 2021 Mint Set is a highly desirable release thanks to its extremely low production and its representation of two major quarter designs in the same year—a rarity in modern Mint Set history. Collectors building complete Mint Set runs, Native American Dollar collections, or Washington quarter series will find this set especially significant.
