2004 Lewis and Clark Uncirculated Coin and Pouch Set

This silver dollar coin was produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint to commemorate the bicentennial of the Lewis and Clark Expedition. This coin is legal tender of the United States. This special set includes enhanced packaging and a special pouch.

American Indian Pouch Special Edition The pouch was hand-decorated by a tribal artist using one or more of the following traditional methods: painted nature-inspired designs, fringe, pierced holes, pipe bone, horsehair or shells, porcupine quill embroidery, or bead work using glass seed beads which were originally introduced by European explorers and fur traders. Through early contact with traders and trappers, tribes began using thread instead of sinew, metal needles and awls instead of bone instruments, and glass beads instead of shells, quills or dyes to decorate clothing, containers and horse adornments.
