2011 United States Mint Set – Return to Standard Uncirculated Finish
The 2011 United States Mint Set marks an important transition in modern Mint Set production. After six years of satin-finish coins, the U.S. Mint returned to standard uncirculated business-strike finishes for all denominations in this set. The 2011 release includes coins from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints and continues the America the Beautiful Quarters Program with ten quarters—five from each mint—honoring: Gettysburg (PA), Glacier (MT), Olympic (WA), Vicksburg (MS), and Chickasaw (OK). According to the official Red Book, the 2011 Mint Set saw a low mintage of just 533,529 sets, making it one of the scarcest modern Mint Sets.
In addition to the America the Beautiful Quarters, the set includes four Presidential Dollars featuring: Andrew Johnson, Ulysses S. Grant, Rutherford B. Hayes, and James A. Garfield. The 2011 Native American Dollar features the “Wampanoag Treaty of 1621” reverse. Rounding out the denominations are standard uncirculated Lincoln Cents, Jefferson Nickels, Roosevelt Dimes, Washington Quarters, and 2011 Kennedy Half Dollars. All coins are housed in the durable multi-panel Original Government Packaging (OGP), with each mint’s coins arranged in separate color-coded folders.
The 2011 Mint Set is notable for its extremely low mintage, return to traditional uncirculated finishes, and its strong multi-series representation—all occurring during an active era of U.S. circulating coin redesigns. As one of the scarcest Mint Sets of the 2010s, it is strongly sought after by modern collectors building complete runs or series-based collections.
