2008 United States Mint Set – Final Year of State Quarters

The 2008 United States Mint Set features uncirculated satin-finish coins from both the Philadelphia and Denver Mints, continuing the presentation upgrades introduced in the previous year. This set marks the historic final year of the 50 State Quarters Program, with ten State Quarters—five from each mint—honoring the last states to enter the Union: Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona, Alaska, and Hawaii. According to the official Red Book, the 2008 Mint Set was produced in a quantity of 745,464 sets.

The set also includes the second-year releases of the Presidential Dollar Program, featuring uncirculated satin-finish coins depicting: James Monroe, John Quincy Adams, Andrew Jackson, and Martin Van Buren. Alongside the dollar coins and State Quarters, the 2008 Mint Set includes uncirculated Lincoln Cents, Jefferson Nickels, Roosevelt Dimes, Washington Quarters, 2008 Kennedy Half Dollars, and the 2008-P and 2008-D Sacagawea Dollar. Each coin is housed in modern folder-style Original Government Packaging (OGP), with Mint-issued protective cellophane securing sharp strikes, crisp mintmarks, and the signature satin finish unique to Mint Sets from 2005–2010.

With its lower mintage, strong Presidential Dollar lineup, and the final issues of the original State Quarter series, the 2008 Mint Set is a major milestone for modern collectors.
