1981 United States Mint Set – Final Year of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar
The 1981 United States Mint Set features uncirculated examples of every circulating denomination issued by the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints. Packaged in its Original Government Packaging (OGP), this set is especially notable as the final year of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar in regular Mint Sets until the series briefly reappeared in 1999. The official mintage for the 1981 Mint Set was 2,908,145 sets.
Inside the 1981 set, collectors will find uncirculated Lincoln Cents, Jefferson Nickels, Roosevelt Dimes, Washington Quarters, Kennedy Half Dollars, and the 1981 Susan B. Anthony Dollar from both Philadelphia and Denver. As in previous years, the San Francisco Mint contributes an “S” mintmark business-strike Lincoln Cent and Jefferson Nickel. All coins maintain the sharp, bright luster typical of early 1980s Mint Set production and are preserved in the original cellophane packaging.
With its three-mint representation and the last SBA Dollar of the era, the 1981 Mint Set is an important addition for collectors completing a run of small-size dollar coins or assembling a full Mint Set timeline. Its combination of historical interest and strong collector relevance makes it one of the key modern issues of the decade.
