2012 US Mint Release Schedule - Part 1
The United States Mint has released a schedule of 2012 coin introductions which covers the first couple months of the new year. There are several items on the list that are sure to pick the interest of silver coin enthusiasts. The first item on the list is the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters Silver Proof Set, with each of the five coins containing 90% silver. Included in this year’s set is El Yunque National Forest of Puerto Rico, Chaco Culture National Historical Park of New Mexico, Acadia National Forest of Maine, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park of Hawaii, and Denali National Park of Alaska.
Also being offered in the early part of 2012 are the two remaining 2011 America the Beautiful Five Ounce Uncirculated Coins™ that had yet to be released by the mint. These two 5oz ATBs feature Vicksburg National Military Park and Chickasaw National Recreation Area.
Another item of particular interest to silver coin collectors will be the new 2012 Infantry Soldier Silver Dollar. The obverse of this commemorative silver dollar coin will feature a modern United States Infantry soldier in mid-stride carrying a rifle. The reverse design depicts two rifles crossed to form an X. The coins will be available in both proof and uncirculated collector varieties.
