Since 2007, silver Koala coins from the Australian Perth Mint have been popular among investors being a 99.99% 1 Troy Ounce pure silver coin.

For the 2023 release of the Koala silver coin series, the coin's reverse portrays a koala climbing a tree with a dependent young ‘joey’ clinging to its back for security. A "P" mint-mark can be found on each coin along with the memorial obverse design featuring the Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II supplemented with the dates of Her Majesty's reign - '1952-2022' along with the 1 Dollar face value. Each coin also includes an authentication feature on the reverse in the form a a micro-laser engraved letter. Detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make it significantly more difficult for the coin to be counterfeited.
