Lis J., Fulfillment
Just six short months away, Lis will have been here at SilverTowne for 40 years. With the business itself celebrating 70 years in 2019, it is incredible to have an employee with such experience, knowledge, and wisdom still in the everyday grind that is needed to keep a business such as this operating. The bullion and numismatic game have changed drastically in that amount of time and she has seen it all, including all the designs that have come and gone when it comes to our silver bullion.
Beginning Job Title: “When I started I opened the mail. I then began learning to do assays and I did that for 36 years and then when I wasn’t doing that, I started doing fulfillment. I kept myself busy.”
Current Job Title: “I still do all the fulfillment for SilverTowne from the internet and eBay. My main duties are for silver bullion, so when we have something unusual come through like silver dollars or gold pieces or anything like that, I go to Brock, Tony, or Kortni to get it for me.”
Favorite Part of Her Job: “Typically during the busy times, like Christmas, I will get a big stack of orders. When I am able to get that stack whittled down and get things shipped out to customers in a timely manner, that is my favorite part. I really like to get things out the door as quickly as I can.”
Biggest Change Over the Years: “When I first started, there were no computers. We did everything on paper back then. Now, and when we first got everything moved over to computers, that was the biggest change. That was the biggest thing we did right.”
Biggest Surprise Over the Years: “The people that travel here and actually come to the shop. They might drive 1 to 2 hours or even more to get here. There are a lot of people from this town and locally that have never been here. It’s amazing to see how many people take the time to come see us from far away.”
Fondest Memory: “Before this building was here, I worked with the same five guys every day. It was nice to be able to see the building being built for over two years. I think then in April of 1982, everyone got to move over here from the SilverTowne Mint. I was really excited to interact with everyone else besides those same five guys all the time.”
What She Looks Forward To: “I think the new management is doing some different things. I’m excited to see us do some things we’ve never done before, some more creative things.”
Additional Thought: “I have been fortunate enough to work with my brother (Tony) all these years. I’ve seen him every single day that I’ve been here. I’m grateful that I get to see family every day.”
Favorite Period Of Music: “I like the 1960s. I really like Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble, those softer sounds. I also listen to Aretha Franklin a lot. I try different genres.”
